As part of the “Today’s Student, Tomorrow’s Journalist” event organized by Fırat University Faculty of Communication, Kanal 23 News Director Elif Doğan shared her professional experiences with university students.

The event organized by Faculty of Communication Public Relations and Publicity Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sinan Akpınar, Fırat University Secretary General, Faculty of Communication Dean Prof. Dr. Nuran İmik Tanyıldızı, academic staff and students attended.

FÜ Secretary General Prof. Dr. Sinan Akpınar, who made the opening speech of the program, said, “If you, dear Faculty of Communication students, want to advance in your field, you need to love this profession and trust yourself in order to be good at your profession. When you trust yourself and do the right things, I believe that you will reach good places and everything ends with you.”

The speaker of the event, Channel 23 News Director Elif Doğan, expressed the following words:

“It is a source of pride to be with you. The press sector also started in my high school years. Before starting my career, you need to make a logical decision about which field you want to advance in. I have been in the press sector for about eighteen years. I have worked in various channels. Our sector is a difficult job, sometimes we have to work by sacrificing our own lives. If you have chosen this sector, you need to know these. It is a sector that you can do as long as you believe and trust in yourself. I believe that you, my dear friends, will be successful in this field.”

Doğan, who also answered the questions of the students, answered the question “According to which rules should we write the news?” as follows:

“When writing news, first of all, it is necessary to write in accordance with the 5W-1H rule. You need to apply this rule to all the news you will make. When writing news, you need to pay close attention to the source, you definitely need to filter the incoming information. You need to write a news story in a language that both x person in the village and x person in the city will understand.”

At the end of the conference, Channel 23 News Director Elif Doğan was presented with a plaque and flowers.
